30 Days Of Biking

A local bike shop posted a link on Facebook titled “30 Days Of Biking”.  It’s a website in which you simply pledge that you are going to ride a bike every single day in April.  The thinking behind it is that if you do something for 30 days, maybe it will become part of your normal routine.  It is free and there is no distance requirement.  You just enter your name in the website and ride a bike every day in April no matter what the conditions are.  You can also share your experiences on Twitter and at the end of the month, they will publish the best posts in the next issue of Boneshaker: A Bicycling Almanac.  They also have organized group rides that you can participate in if you want or you can ride entirely on your own.

Since I am already training for the 100-mile Ironman Bike Ride at the end of April already, it seemed like I might as well make the pledge.  Even thought there is no official distance requirement, I have decided to give myself a personal minimum distance of 10 miles.  This morning it was a 19 degrees and windy and I rode 10.26 miles.  The conditions in April get much worse than that.  Or can they?
